'Well, time to bally well shove off, everything has been jolly well packed!" Hon Florion told Jared, it was time to start the journey that would test the duo with many perils....

But what if his destiny was different than he supposed? What if he never came back to Redwall? Fear mingled with his courage, and he didn't know which one should prevail over him.

"We'll head to the River Moss, and find a boat if we can."

The creatures traveled until they came to the River Moss, there, they went upstream to look for the shrews, Hon Florion's sing-song voice suddenly called out, "there are the blaggards!"

Jared turned, and was suddenly set upon by dozens of shrews. He staggered, and fell into the River. He surfaced, still under attack by the shrews.
"Get out of our territory, treejumper! You have no right to be here! Get out!"

Hon Florion was furious, he started battering shrews left and right with his staff, knocking them into the river, "BLAST YOU! FOOLS! GET OFF!"

Jared climbed out of the river, soaking wet and massaging his head. "What the heck-what's going on here? Where's your leader?"

"I doubt they even have one! If shrews DID have to pick a leader depending on how annoying they are, they would all start leading! Have they any bally sense?!"

"I don't think so," Jared said, pulling off his shirt and wringing the water out of it. "Look, we need a boat. We didn't come into your territory to attack you, we just need a boat to cross the ocean."

The biggest shrew, obviously the leader, looked at Jared, "Yup, for da treejumper, but not for da wabbit!" Hon Florion suddenly gave him a blow to the head with an enormous foot, "THE NERVE!"
