Rorgus strolled through the sunlit woods as he headed towards his Holt, with the shrimp he had caught at a nearby stream. He was tall and good looking. He lived with his mother and sister. His father had died while fighting a band of foxes when he was little. He was 4 seasons older than his sister. He heard a sound above him and looked up. He saw a robin perched on a branch above him. “Hi Butterwing” “Hi Rorgus, where you going with those shrimp?” “These are for shrimp n’hotroot soup. My mom makes the best shrimp n’hotroot soup in the world. I got to go home. ’Bye Butterwing” “'Bye Rorgus” He walked a little faster. Soon he came in view of their Holt. He saw his sister standing at the door of the Holt waiting for him. “Hi Saffron” “Ah, there you are Rorgus. Hurry, mother is waiting, and we're getting hungry.”
After they had finished eating, Sapphire,their mother, said that she needed some things from the Guosim shrews. “I had Butterwing scout around and find them. They are having a picnic at the water meadow south of here. You shouldn’t have too much trouble getting there. Here is the list of supplies. You can set off in the morning. Now let’s all go to bed and get a good nights rest."
Next morning Saffron asked, “Can I go with Rorgus, Mother, please?” “Oh, I guess so, stick close to your brother now dear. Keep a close eye on her Rorgus. Have a safe trip.”

Rian Dundaris strolled along the River Moss. That was the second time the young mouse had come to Mossflower. But it was not for tracking. What was it for?
He turned on his heel when he heard voices. "Hello? Who's there?"

"Hi there, who are you? I am Rorgus and this is my sister Saffron, we don't see many travelers around here, where you headed?"

Rian relaxed, and held up a paw in welcome. "My name's Rian. I've been sent here from Salamandastron for some business. But I don't know what it is. Do you know?"

"No but the Guosim shrews might know, come along and I'll take you to them."

Rian nodded, and followed Rorgus and Saffron to the Gousim shrews.
"So tell me about yourselves. Where are you from?"

Rian sighed. "I understand how it is to lose somebeast. My parents were taken from me by a plague. I vowed to become a creature of peace after my friend Cossal died...." Through his sadness, Rian blushed slightly.

Rian shook his head. "No. I have no siblings, or family. I'm alone. Except when I'm at Salamandastron, of course. The hares treat me like one of them. And Lord Silverstripe is an amazing Badger Lord."

"A Badger lord?! I've never seen a badger before. What is Salamandastron like I've heard of it before but I have never been there, and how many hares are there?"

Rian smiled widely. "Salamandastron is an enormous mountain, with a palace. The number of hares is beyond counting; I'm the only mouse. It's amazing. A mountain of fire and warriors. If you want I can take you to it someday."

"Wow a mountain!Your the only mouse? don't you miss being with other mice? I would love to go there." Soon they came in site of the water meadow they saw the guosim camp on the other side.

"Actually, I'm from the Northlands. Before my parents died, they wished for me to go Salamandastron. And that's how I came to be there. And yes, I do sometimes miss my home."

"It sounds like you do a lot of traveling." They started around the water meadow towards the camp. Soon they reached it and asked a shrew where the Log-a-Log was.
